BEHIND THE IDEA:
WHY SANI-RIDES WORKS
HOW ARE ROLLER COASTERS SANITIZED NOW?
As of July 2020, Walt Disney World has had to close their rides down every two hours in order to manually clean each ride vessel. Park employees have had to gear up and use a Lawn and Garden Sprayer to spray down the coasters. Each time this is done, rides are closed and this takes anywhere between 15-45 minutes before guests can get back on.
Six Flags Parks (specifically Great Adventure and Magic Mountain) announced, as of May 2020, that they would be opening with limited capacity, gradually increasing capacity as the park is open over time. Like Disney, employees wash down the rides frequently, which lengthens wait times. Throughout the park, there are designated individual hand sanitizing, but other than that, guests are at risk for COVID -19 while riding.
Sani-Rides hopes to offer an added layer of protection for roller coaster junkies.

“The crowds were noticeably thinner than usual. The second thing I noticed was groups of Six Flags “Clean Team” workers walking around with sprayers and big yellow tanks of disinfectant strapped to their backs, hosing down and wiping railings, benches and garbage cans.”
